Re-design
Since we have update the kitchen, I have really been wanting to update the living room as well. (And the guest bathroom, formal living room, floors throughout, etc.) I've been looking at new pillows, new rugs, new art work... anything that catches my eye. Of course I have found tons, but I haven't really been willing to fork over the cash for any of it. I saw these prints at Crate and Barrel:... for close to $400. So, I decided to try my hand at it and see what I could come up with. I did all of these prints for $140. (Got the paper at Paper-Source and the frames at Garden Ridge.) Not bad if I do say so myself!

Weekend at the park
This weekend Julie and the triplets where in town for her SMU friends "babyfest". It was perfect weather for lots of park time, so we made the rounds to 3 different ones. Charlie and I met up with everyone on Saturday at Abbott Park in HP... by far the best park I've been to for little ones. That afternoon, we took the foursom to the church park outside our back door. And on Sunday, Patrick and I took Mr. C to a park near our house. He was a huge fan of the firetruck.
Going down!
Here they come.
There they go.

We went back
Remember last year when Charlie and I found our neighborhood flock of peacocks on a walk one afternoon? Remember Charlie's face?
Well, I decided since he is older that he would probably love to see the peacocks again. I was anticipating a big reaction. This is what we saw:
And this was his reaction:
Not impressed at all! I wanted to tell him that we have a really out-of-the-ordinary thing here, but then thought it's pretty normal in his little life. He always gets to see these peacocks!

Incident Reports
It's never a good day when I go and pick up Charlie from daycare and am handed an "Incident Report". This has happened four times in the past three weeks. Uh-oh! Charlie typically comes home with bumps and bruises that no one thought much of. I get it. He's a toddler. Bumps and bruises are part of the game.
First "incident report" was because he fell down and hit his forehead. I thought maybe it was the new pair of Crocs I put on his feet that morning.
A couple of days later, I get the second "incident report". He fell backwards and hit his head and had to be monitored for the rest of the day for a concussion. They said it was so loud and it vibrated the floor. Ouch! That day he was wearing his New Balances. OK, maybe it's not the shoes. Maybe it's the kid!
Last week, the third "incident report" was awaiting me. But before that, I had gotten a call from the director telling me that Charlie had taken a fall outside and ended up with a bloody nose. She had kept him in her office until the bleeding stopped. OK... definitely the kid! Bless him, he gets his clumsiness from his momma! I told her that the same thing had happened a couple of months ago on my watch and to the same nostril. She said some kids have a thin mucous membrane in their nose and that this will likely continue to be a problem.
Yesterday was the fourth "incident report". This time it wasn't self induced. Instead, turns out that one of Charlie's classmates is a biter. Whoever he/she is got Charlie pretty good on his right hand. I bet Charlie wasn't too happy about that!
Stay tuned. I am sure that there will be many more "incident reports" to be had!

Weclome to the world!!
A Day of Firsts
Patrick and I took Charlie to his first Rangers game on Saturday. We went about 1.5 hours late (after Charlie's nap), so we were really only in the seats for about 1 hr. and 15 min. This was perfect timing... anything longer would have meant meltdown. Charlie loved taking in the crowd, clapping along with everyone, and was amazed by the fireworks when the Rangers got a grand slam! Thanks to Michael and Tandra for the tickets!
After the game, they had a concert by the lake for everyone who went to the game. So, not only did Charlie get to go to his first baseball game, he also got to go to his first concert... Clint Black! We sat on the outskirts so that Mr. Busy could have plenty of room to run around!

Kitchen Remodel #7
We are 98% complete with the kitchen remodel and are LOVING the way everything turned out. Last week they continued with the backsplash and grouted everything, along with about 50 other "touch-up" items that needed to be done.
What are we waiting on now? The floor:
Our contractor had warned me that the floor wouldn't match on the little portion that we are trying to match. That's OK, as long as it is somewhere in the ballpark. Well, turns out that they found some that would work in color, except that it was too tall and wasn't lining up with the existing boards. So, now we have the right one on order and are patiently waiting for it to come in. We are also waiting on one more box of grey backsplash tile to come in to finish the backsplash above the oven.
Other than this, our kitchen is functional. We are working hard at moving eveything back in so that we can really start cookin!
