Entertainment: Part 2

This is how Charlie entertains himself after naps and before I come in to get him...

Entertainment: Part 1

Charlie's favorite new toy these days is his jumperoo. (Just as my friends rotate baby clothes, we also rotate baby toys... excellent way to save money!) Thanks to the Greer's for letting us use the jumperoo!

Moving On

At Charlie's last doctor's appt. his pediatrician said that we would discuss starting veggies and fruits at his 6 mth. appt. Well, it occurred to me yesterday that I will be working and Charlie will be in daycare when he turns 6 mths. I would much rather go ahead and start the veggies and fruits while I'm at home with him to monitor in case any allergies should appear. SO, I called and got the OK to start giving Charlie his veggies and fruits. We started with avocado (mainly because it's what I had on hand)... he doesn't love them, but right now I'm not so worried about whether he likes it or not, but rather if he is allergic to it... (so far, so good in that department).

Recipe #2

Rather than naming them by week (mainly beacause I haven't been updating them per week), I will just call them Recipe by number. For tonight we have:

"Radiance Vinaigrette" (courtesy of Central Mkt)
3 Tbsp. honey
Agave Nectar (we had none, so I substituted Orange-Pineapple Juice- 3 Tbsp.)
3 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
1 Tsp. lime zest
2 Tbsp. fresh mint
1 Tsp. poppy seeds (didn't have, so didn't use)

Mix all together and chill for an hour. Serve as a salad dressing or over fruit. (For mine, I added blueberries, strawberries, mango and peaches... delicious... even Patrick, who doesn't do fruit salad, said it was good!)

Sleeping Habits

At 5 mths. of age Charlie is sleeping anywhere from 11-13 hrs. through the night (which is AWESOME) and up until now he has been strictly a sleep-on-the-back baby. Sometimes he will wake up for about 5-30 minutes and either cries a little bit or talks to himself and then he falls back asleep. I rarely go in there to check on him when this happens because I know it's just what he does. So, the other day he woke up during a nap, cried for about 10 min. and then fell back asleep. I didn't think anything of it... so, when I finally looked at the monitor I found this...
Poor little guy!! But, I still didn't wake him up... I just turned him, removed his leg and let him continue his nap.

Another sleeping habit, that has developed just this week is that Charlie is officially a front sleeper. And worse, sometimes, he likes to sleep with his face completely digging into his sheets. (Great!) I try to turn him over in his sleep and he just turns himself right back over to his front. Last night I tried to, at least, turn his face to one side and he just turned it right back into the sheets. Ugh, the stress!

Summer Picnic

We headed to White Rock Lake Sunday night and had a picnic (we tried to go to the Arboretum first, but turns out it closes at 5pm)! We picked up food from Whole foods, took a blanket, our ipod, and a bottle of wine and had a relaxing meal!

Just another day at work

Patrick was sitting at his desk the other day, just minding his own business, and guess who came through the door...

Apparently, George stopped by to say "hello" to his friend, Andy Beal. Patrick and George talked baseball.

5 Mths!

Charlie turned 5 mths old yesterday. We celebrated by hanging out in Ft. Worth with some of Charlie's friends. Charlie wanted to thank Sam, Jack and Nathan for letting Ellen and him join your music class... he loved it! And thanks to all of the daddies for watching the kiddos while the mommies/soon to be mommy could go enjoy Emily's Baby Shower. Thanks to the Greer's and Horsch's for hosting such a fun weekend and to the Lund's for making the trip! Here are a few 5 mth. pics:

Look how big I'm getting!

I like to practice sitting all by myself!

More OKC fun

The purpose of going to OKC this past weekend was to see Isabelle, Sophia and Cooper get baptized. We had a wonderful weekend spending time with our family, as well as Manny's.

The Leclercq's on their special day:
Mommy and Charlie all dressed up:
Daddies and babies swimming:
Babies saying "Geaux Tigers!":
Lunch at Pops on Route 66:

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Charlie and I just got back from OKC a few hours ago and we have pics from our first zoo experience! Thanks to Julie and the triplets for taking us!

All of the babies with the brown bear behind them
Thanks dad/Pappa for your help pushing the babies around
Charlie and the giraffes (notice his cute summer hat)
All the babies were pooped after our fun day at the zoo!

Fun in the Sun!!

Thanks Andrea and Nathan for letting us come hang at the pool! Charlie loved being in the baby pool and getting to walk around in the crab. Due to all of the walking he did, Charlie got blisters on all of his little toes (bless his heart), but he didn't seem to mind a bit.

Eating rice cereal means...

Thanks!

I wanted to send a big thank you to all of you who sent birthday emails, phone calls, texts and cards. It meant so much to me that so many people sent birthday wishes. Thanks to Patrick for the Wii... we have already been playing a lot of it and sadly, I woke up sore today from it. Thanks to my parents for the birthday $... pretty sure I should spend it on Wii Fit to get myself in better shape. Thank you, also, to the Allens for the wine and diaper bag. And thanks to Carrie, Em, Andrea, and Mols for the Arboretum pass... I am really excited to start going more often. It was a fabulous 31st birthday!

Charlie's new tricks...

Besides finding his feet this past week, Charlie has had a couple of other firsts. We have introduced rice cereal in the past two weeks. I wouldn't say he loves it, but we are practicing every day just the same. He took his first ride on Hank. (I'm sure he'll have many more to come over the next few years!)
Charlie came with me to Target for the first time. (I find it's easiest to Baby Bjorn him... that way I have my hands free to shop!) And last, but not least, Charlie is talking!! He just started this a week ago, but he just babbles and babbles as if he is having a full on conversation. It's super cute. But not when he wakes up at 5am and talks to himself for about an hour before going back to sleep!

Hill Country Summer

Charlie and I just got back from spending more than a week in the Hill Country... Spicewood to be exact. Thank you to Ann and Bob for letting Patrick and I bring our friends down for the 4th of July weekend and letting Charlie and I stay for an extra few days to hang out! While there, we celebrated my 31st birthday (Thanks babe for the Wii... I am super excited about it!) and 4th of July. The boys played golf while the girls and babies went to the pool. Some pics:
